Body Image

Body Image is a person's perception of the aesthetics or sexual attractiveness of their own body. It's your body, and you need to learn how to love your body so that you can be comfortable in your own skin, forever and always. My Body Image (youtube). Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.

Don't make Comparisons. It's easy to make mistakes and make false assumptions when making comparisons, because we rarely have enough information in order to be accurate or honest. Research can easily be skewed, and our observations could easily fool us into seeing things differently than other people do, like with being over confident or egotistical. Your opinion of yourself matters more than the opinion of a stranger. "My body was never perfect, which was why it was so perfect for me."

Assumptions people make when looking at other people (info-graph).

Social Comparison Theory the belief that there is a drive within individuals to gain accurate self-evaluations. The theory explains how individuals evaluate their own opinions and abilities by comparing themselves to others in order to reduce uncertainty in these domains, and learn how to define the self. Do not criticize yourself, understand thyself. It's not always greener on the other side because color is not an accurate measurement of reality.

Pairwise Comparison is any process of comparing entities in pairs to judge which of each entity is preferred, or has a greater amount of some quantitative property, or whether or not the two entities are identical. The method of pairwise comparison is used in the scientific study of preferences, attitudes, voting systems, social choice, public choice, and multiagent AI systems. In psychology literature, it is often referred to as paired comparison.

Body Smart - Mirrors

Reference is a relation between objects in which one object designates, or acts as a means by which to connect to or link to, another object. The first object in this relation is said to refer to the second object. The second object, the one to which the first object refers, is called the referent of the first object.

When you look in the mirror to see yourself, that is not who you are, and it's not what you look like, it's only the surface of the human body that you see. And from that point of view the only main factor is health. Do you look healthy? A mirror is not who you are or what you look like. Who you are is in the inside you and what you look like is objective. This is not to say ignore the ignorance of people who sometimes judge others subjectively. It's just saying that you should not judge yourself in the same ignorant way that others may do. So what exactly are you looking at? The surface? Or what's causing the surface to look differently? Is it just your perception? Or is it something that is related to a cause and effect scenario that you can confirm? Like an injury, or something hereditary, or something that indicates a health problem? Don't ever assume that what you see is exactly what you're looking at. There are many layers, and once you define these layers, then can you avoid looking at yourself so narrowly, or so definitively. Stick with the facts, and skip the self-pity comparisons, there's no time to waste on that kind of bullshit anyway. Be a doctor, not a critic. This is your status, now go, we have a life to live. How our Body can effect our Thinking.

Self Image is the mental picture, generally of a kind that is quite resistant to change, that depicts not only details that are potentially available to objective investigation by others (height, weight, hair color, gender, I.Q. score, etc.), but also items that have been learned by that person about themself, either from personal experiences or by internalizing the judgments of others. A simple definition of a person's self-image is their answer to the question "What do you believe people think about you?". Self-image may consist of three types: Self-image resulting from how the individual sees themself. Self-image resulting from how others see the individual. Self-image resulting from how the individual perceives others see them.

What you look like on the outside is not as important as who you are in the inside. Being a good person and having a good heart will always make you a beautiful person. If you're a bad person, no matter how beautiful you are on the outside, the ugliness that's in your heart will always show its true face. Let the love in your heart be the true measure of how beautiful you are. Most of the time we can't control other peoples behaviors, but we can control how we react to other peoples behavior. Try not to assume or expect certain behavior from other people. Everyone experiences changes in their life. If you understand how your own behaviors change, then you should also understand that other peoples behaviors change too. If someone is not friendly, then your first reaction should be that you hope that they are OK. Never take things personally. You can do things that some people might not agree with, so it makes sense that other people might do things that you don't agree with. You know that you can make a mistake, and you know that you're willing to apologize and learn from your mistake, this is the same for most people. Most people can't be friends to everyone they meet all the time, it's impossible. And we tend to share more of ourselves and express more of ourselves with our friends, which does not always mean that we're understood more. That's the same with everyone else. The most important thing is, make the friends that you do have count. And don't let the outside world drag you down. The inside world is the most important. The outside world changes, and so do you. Just remember to make the inside world change for the better, even when the outside world changes for the worse.

Teen dislike of physical appearance strong predictor of depression in early adulthood. Heightened risk ranges from 50% to 285% by the age of 18; depression severity greater in boys. Teens who are unhappy with their physical appearance are at significantly heightened risk of depression by the time they reach early adulthood. When they were 14, some 3753 teens were asked to rate satisfaction with their physical appearance by scoring their weight, figure, body build and specific areas, including breasts, stomach, waist, thighs, buttocks, hips, legs, face and hair, on a 5-point scale, where 0 equals 'extremely dissatisfied' and 5 equals 'extremely satisfied'. Both the boys (1675) and the girls (2078) were mildly satisfied with their body, overall. But girls were more dissatisfied than boys. Girls tended to dislike their thighs, stomach, and weight, but liked their hair and hips. Boys tended to be dissatisfied with body build, stomach, and hips, but weren't bothered about their hair, weight, or legs. Nearly 1 in 3 (32%) of the girls and around 1 in 7 (14%) of the boys were dissatisfied with their weight, and around 1 in 4 (27%) girls and 1 in 7 (14%) boys were dissatisfied with their figure. When they were 18, depressive symptoms were formally assessed using a validated scale (CIS-R). Girls were more likely to experience episodes of depression than the boys. One in 10 (10%) of the girls reported at least one mild depressive episode compared with 1 in 20 (5%) of the boys. Nearly 7% of the girls and nearly 3% of the boys reported at least one moderately severe depressive episode, while severe depressive episode(s) affected 1.5% of the girls and less than 1% (0.7%) of the boys. Analysis of the data revealed that body dissatisfaction at the age of 14 predicted depressive episodes of all degrees of severity among the girls, and mild and severe depressive episodes among the boys by the time they were 18 years old. These findings held true, even after taking account of depressive symptoms at the age of 14. Among the girls, each increase in the body dissatisfaction scale at the age of 14 was associated with a heightened risk of experiencing at least one mild (63%), moderate (67%) and/or severe (84%) depressive episode at the age of 18. The strength of this association increased with the severity of the depressive episode. The impact of body dissatisfaction on mild depressive episodes was comparable between boys and girls, but its impact on severe depressive episodes was stronger among the boys. Each increase in the body dissatisfaction scale at the age of 14 among the boys was associated with a heightened risk of experiencing at least one mild (50%) and/or severe (285%) depressive episode at the age of 18. "it is possible that in the era of social media and increasing pressures on body ideals, male adolescents have also become sensitive to [idealised body image] pressures, which may translate into later depressive episodes," suggest the researchers. The researchers acknowledge that the lack of ethnic and socioeconomic diversity in the ALSPAC data, and the absence of any information on sexual orientation may limit the wider applicability of the findings. And the measure of body dissatisfaction assessed in the questionnaires was skewed towards female appearance ideals. Nevertheless, they conclude: "These findings demonstrate that body dissatisfaction should be considered as a public health issue of pressing concern. [It] is highly prevalent among young people in the general population and has an increasing incidence; the findings indicate that reducing body dissatisfaction might be an effective strategy to reduce mental health issues.

Beauty - Appearance - Attractiveness

Beauty is a characteristic of an animal, idea, object, person or place that provides a perceptual experience of pleasure or satisfaction. Something that has pleasing qualities or symmetry. Fashion.

Beautiful is a personal perception that something is enjoyable and pleasing to look at and feel. When examining something closely, things are considered to be beautiful when they have good symmetry and also have very few flaws or imperfections. But even then, beauty is still measured by a persons level of knowledge, their experiences, and their personal tastes and values. Even when something beautiful is very popular or well liked by most people, beauty is still subjective, objective and a little mysterious. Delighting the senses or exciting intellectual or emotional admiration that creates a favorable judgment, which sounds like magic.

Attractive is someone pleasing to the eye or mind, especially through beauty or charm. Having the power to arouse interest. Attractive in physics is something having the properties of a magnet; the ability to draw or pull. Attraction.

Appealing is something able to attract interest or draw favorable attention.

Stunning is someone or something extremely impressive or attractive. Strikingly beautiful or attractive. Commanding attention. Overcome as with astonishment or disbelief. Causing great astonishment and consternation. Causing or capable of causing bewilderment or shock or insensibility.

Pretty is someone who is attractive and pleasing by delicacy or grace.

Cute is something attractive, especially by means of smallness, prettiness or quaintness. Obviously contrived to charm.

Pleasing is something that gives pleasure and satisfaction.

Good Looking is someone pleasing in appearance, especially by reason of conformity to ideals of form and proportion.

Handsome is someone pleasing in appearance especially by reason of conformity to ideals of form and proportion.

Tall, Dark and Handsome is a phrase that refers to an appealing man, often found in romantic fiction aimed at women. (dark may refer to dark hair, dark suit or dark skin tone).

Clean-Cut is someone giving the appearance of neatness and respectability.

Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder means that beauty cannot be judged objectively, for what one person finds beautiful or admirable may not appeal to another. The person who is observing gets to decide what is beautiful. Beauty doesn't exist on its own, it's created by observers. Beauty is relative, but beauty can also be a consensus.

Blind People Describe Beauty (youtube)

If you're only beautiful on the outside, but not beautiful on the inside, then that's just false advertising.

Appearance is the outward or visible aspect of a person or thing. A mental representation. The act of appearing in public view. Sometimes pretending that something is the case in order to make a good impression.

Human Physical Appearance is the outward phenotype or look of human beings. There are infinite variations in human phenotypes, though society reduces the variability to distinct categories. Physical appearance of humans, in particular those attributes which are regarded as important for physical attractiveness, are believed by anthropologists to significantly affect the development of personality and social relations. Some humans can be acutely sensitive to their physical appearance. Some differences in human appearance are genetic, others are the result of age, lifestyle or disease, and many are the result of personal adornment.

Visual Appearance of objects is given by the way in which they reflect and transmit light. The color of objects is determined by the parts of the spectrum of (incident white) light that are reflected or transmitted without being absorbed. Additional appearance attributes are based on the directional distribution of reflected (BRDF) or transmitted light (BTDF) described by attributes like glossy, shiny versus dull, matte, clear, turbid, distinct, etc.

Appearance in philosophy to show, shine, appear, to be manifest or manifest itself, plural phenomena), is any thing which manifests itself. Phenomena are often, but not always, understood as "things that appear" or "experiences" for a sentient being, or in principle may be so.

Physical Attractiveness is the degree to which a person's physical features are considered aesthetically pleasing or beautiful. The term often implies sexual attractiveness or desirability, but can also be distinct from either. There are many factors which influence one person's attraction to another, with physical aspects being one of them. Physical attraction itself includes universal perceptions common to all human cultures such as facial symmetry, sociocultural dependent attributes and personal preferences unique to a particular individual. In many cases, humans subconsciously attribute positive characteristics, such as intelligence and honesty, to physically attractive people. A person's physical characteristics can signal cues to fertility and health, with statistical modelling studies showing that the facial shape variables that reflect aspects of physiological health, including body fat and blood pressure, also influence observers' perceptions of health. Attending to these factors increases reproductive success, furthering the representation of one's genes in the population. Men, on average, tend to be attracted to women who have a youthful appearance and exhibit features such as a symmetrical face, full breasts, full lips, and a low waist-hip ratio. Women, on average, tend to be attracted to men who are taller than they are and who display a high degree of facial symmetry, masculine facial dimorphism, upper body strength, broad shoulders, a relatively narrow waist, and a V-shaped torso.

Not being beautiful as you think you are is like having camouflage that helps to protect the true beauty that is within you and underneath the surface. It also protects you from people who would ignorantly exploit your beauty and give you unwarranted attention. Not being beautiful can also protect you from becoming vain or obsessed with your own beauty, or from using your beauty as an excuse to do things that you normally wouldn't do. It seems to be more beneficial not beautiful than it is to be beautiful. Unless you are highly educated enough to handle the vulnerabilities of being beautiful, you're better off not being beautiful. The same thing goes money or power, having too much can be bad. Balance.

Neatness is the trait of being clean and organized and showing care.

Fine is something being satisfactory or in satisfactory condition. Characterized by elegance, refinement or accomplishment. Fine of textures are surfaces that are smooth to the touch or substances consisting of relatively small particles. Fine in metallurgy are metals free from impurities and having a high or specified degree of purity. Fine (penalty).

Eye Candy is a very attractive person or persons, or the salient visible physical attributes of same. Any object or sight with considerable visual appeal.

Arm Candy is an attractive, seemingly romantic companion who accompanies a person in public simply so that one or both of the individuals can gain attention, enhance social status, or create an impression of sexual appeal.

You could say that my job is to make other people look good by being below average looking and a little displeasing, which also helps people to feel less insecure and less inadequate. I mean, how else would you know what good looking is if you had nothing to compare it to? So thank you very much, I'm glad to be of service. So what do you do?

Imperfections or beauty can both cause distractions and cause abnormal or self defeating behaviors. It is better to be plain looking.

Plain Looking is being simple or ordinary in character. Having no pretensions; not remarkable or special. Not elaborate or elaborated; Not mixed with extraneous elements. Without modification, esp. without any attempt to soften or disguise. Lacking embellishment or ornamentation. Lacking in physical beauty or proportion. Not distinctive, or remarkable in appearance.

If you're pretty and you know it then your heart will surely show it. Beauty begins on the inside. That is the only place where true beauty originates from. If you're ugly on the inside, then just being beautiful on the outside will do you more harm than good. There are a lot of beautiful people who are as*holes, which is such a wasteful shame because it ruins the privilege of beauty for everyone.

Nothing is ugly, Ugly does not exist. Something that is pleasing to the eye does not mean that it is beautiful, and something that isn't pleasing to the eye does not mean that it is ugly, beautiful and ugly are just opinions, not facts or reality. But that doesn't mean that you can't improve something or make something look better. But that is still just a personal Preference and your Personal PerceptionLabels can sometimes be misleading.

Eyesore is a thing that is perceived as ugly, especially a building that disfigures a landscape. An eyesore is something that is largely considered to look unpleasant or ugly. (Is there a safety issue? Is there a health issue?)

Slobbish or Slovenly is being negligent with neatness or being habitually dirty and unkempt, especially with clothes that are worn in public. Messy hair or dirty skin can also be seen as being a slob. (Poor Taste or Cheap?).

Surface - Just the Outside - The First Layer

Superficiality is the lack of thoroughness, depth of character, or serious thought. Shallowness in terms of affecting only surface layers of something.

Subjective - Criticizing - Narrow Minded - Fake

Superficial is seeing something based only its surface and nothing else. A shallow understanding of something, like Racism. Not seeing the underlying levels and not seeing the whole picture.

Superficial Evidence - Circumstantial Evidence - Racism - Fashion - Fame

Surface is a superficial aspect as opposed to the real nature of something. The outer boundary of an artifact or a material layer constituting or resembling such a boundary. The extended two-dimensional outer boundary of a three-dimensional object. The outermost Level of the land or sea. Above or on top, but not Below the Surface.

Periphery is the outside boundary or the surface of something. The outer limits or edge of an area or object. Peripheral is on or near an edge or constituting an outer boundary; the outer area. The opposite of center, middle or heart.

Fringe is the outside boundary or surface of something. A part of the city far removed from the center. A social group holding marginal or extreme views.

Appearance is the outward or visible aspect of a person or thing. The act of appearing in public view. Pretending that something is the case in order to make a good impression. It's what's inside that is the most important.

Facade is generally one exterior side of a building, usually the front. It is a foreign loan word from the French façade, which means "frontage" or "face". In architecture, the facade of a building is often the most important aspect from a design standpoint, as it sets the tone for the rest of the building. From the engineering perspective of a building, the facade is also of great importance due to its impact on energy efficiency. For historical facades, many local zoning regulations or other laws greatly restrict or even forbid their alteration. Facade can also be a showy misrepresentation intended to conceal something unpleasant.

Front is the side that is seen or that goes first. The side that is forward or prominent. The part of something that is nearest to the normal viewer. The outward appearance of a person.

Face is the front of the human head from the forehead to the chin and ear to ear. The general outward appearance of something. A surface forming part of the outside of an object. Face also means a vertical surface of a building or cliff. Face also means to be oriented in a certain direction or to face in a certain direction. A reference point. Facial Expressions.

Take Something at Face Value means to accept someone or something just as it appears, or to believe that the way things appear is the way they really are.

Perfection - No One is Perfect

Perfection is the state of being without a flaw or defect. An ideal instance; a perfect embodiment of a concept. The act of making something perfect.

Perfect is having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be. Being complete of its kind and without defect or blemish. Precisely accurate or exact. Make something completely free from faults or defects, or as close to such a condition as possible.

Perceiving something to be perfect does not make it perfect. Striving for high quality and excellence is a good thing, and trying to make things better is also a good thing. But you still have to know the difference between subjective and objective. We can measure tangible things that are valuable and effective, but we can't measure abstract perceptions. So it seems that the only thing that is perfect is our imagination, and the dreams that we have about perfection. We have to be careful with this word perfection, it can waste a lot of time and also be irrelevant and cause undue stress and anxiety. There's nothing wrong with wanting to be the best or wanting to do your best. The only thing that can be wrong are the reasons why you want to be the best. Thinking perfectly is much more valuable than just seeking perfection and perfectly thinking is a lot better than just thinking about being perfect. Priorities and time management need to be considered.

Perfectionism can sometimes drive people to attempt to achieve an unattainable ideal, which could waste valuable time and energy, though their adaptive perfectionism can sometimes motivate them to reach their goals. When perfectionists do not reach their goals, they often fall into depression. A perfectionist is a personality trait characterized by a person's striving for flawlessness and setting high performance standards, accompanied by critical self-evaluations and concerns regarding others' evaluations.

Obsession is an unhealthy and compulsive preoccupation with something or someone.

Anal Retentiveness describes a person who pays so much attention to detail that it becomes an obsession and may be an annoyance to others.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to look your best, it's just when you become so obsessed with how you look that you waste an enormous amount of time, energy, money and resources. When you spend too much time trying to look good, you may have less time to be good. Use your time effectively and efficiently to maintain a certain amount of organization in your life, because it helps to reduce the time wasted looking for things, and it also helps you to accurately understand the things that you have and the things that you are responsible for.

Fixation is the persistent attachment to people or things in general.

Body Dysmorphia is a mental disorder characterized by an obsessive preoccupation that some aspect of one's own appearance is severely flawed and warrants exceptional measures to hide or fix it.

Plastic Surgery - Self-Conscious (low confidence)

Baby, You're A Rich Man, How does it feel to be One of the beautiful people? (Beatles).

Nothing is Perfect. Perfection is only a fantasy, and achievable only in our dreams. But even then, most perfections are unnecessary and irrelevant. Perfection is more of a desired goal, not necessarily a reality that someone can achieve. So even a dream about perfection is not perfect. To be functional, practical and healthy is as perfect as reality could ever get. So don't waste too much time fantasizing about things that are unnecessary and irrelevant, especially when most dreams about perfection are self-centered and delusional. There are much better dreams to dream.

Subjectivity are influences, informs, and biases that affect people's judgments about truth or reality.

"We are not perfect, but we are perfect in knowing that we are not perfect."

Fussy is being overly obsessed with every detail that you never truly enjoy yourself. There's nothing wrong with wanting perfection, as long as it doesn't interfere with life. Some details are not that important to waste all that time and resources on.

Fly in the Ointment is a flaw or imperfection that detracts from something positive. A small, unpleasant matter that spoils something. A drawback or detrimental factor. A minor irritation or other factor that spoils the success or enjoyment of something. A trifling annoyance that spoils one’s enjoyment.

Perfectionism and the Excessive desire to succeed and compete with others may have negative impact on youth psychological health. The drive to be perfect in body, mind and career take a toll on young people's mental health.

Control Freak describes an individual who attempts to undermine other people based on how one dictates how everything is done around them. The phrase was first used in the 1970s, an era when stress was laid on the principle of 'doing one's own thing' and letting others do the same.

Be Nice to Yourself Inferiority Complex is a lack of self-worth, a doubt and uncertainty about the self, and feelings of not measuring up to standards. It is often subconscious, and is thought to drive afflicted individuals to overcompensate, resulting either in spectacular achievement or extreme asocial behavior. In modern literature, the preferred terminology is "lack of covert self-esteem". For many, it is developed through a combination of genetic personality characteristics and personal experiences.

Cortical Homunculus is a distorted representation of the human body, based on a neurological "map" of the areas and proportions of the brain dedicated to processing motor functions, or sensory functions, for different parts of the body.

"Your life doesn't have to be perfect, your life just has to have value."

Self Pity is excessive, self-absorbed unhappiness over one's own troubles. Self-pity is also an emotion directed towards others with the goal of attracting attention, empathy, or help and one in which the subject feels sorry for themselves.

Feeling Sorry for Yourself is when you exaggerate your misfortune to a point where you experience a sense of hopelessness and helplessness. You might start thinking that your life will never be good again. And you might conclude that no one could possibly help help you feel better. This way of thinking is self-destructive. To feel pity for oneself due to circumstances or treatment perceived as unfair or exceptionally harmful. The phrase typically implies that such feelings are not fully warranted. I know you're disappointed that opportunity didn't work out, but you need to stop being sorry for yourself and start auditioning again. If you're completely focused on feeling bad about your own problems and complaints, you're feeling self-pity. It's often easier to identify self-pity in other people than in yourself, partly because your own self-pity keeps your attention focused inward. Don't feel sorry for other people.

Victim Playing is the fabrication or exaggeration of victimhood for a variety of reasons such as to justify abuse of others, to manipulate others, a coping strategy, or attention seeking.

Don't let the Voices in your Head ruin your day.

People want to look good, which is not a bad thing, it's just when looking good turns into an obsession, then it becomes a problem. When you become so self-conscious that you can't be yourself, then that could be a problem. And when you believe that you look better than others which makes you treat others differently, then that could also be a problem and a warning sign of Narcissism. Are you obsessed with how you look? Obsessed with looking good? Obsessed with how your things look, like your car, your clothes, your hair or jewelry, and so on. They could be signs of appearance obsession. Are you looking in the mirror many times each day? Are you staring at yourself in the mirror or at a certain defect or flaw? Not going out of the house or hanging with friends anymore because you are concerned about your appearance. Only being able to go out in public after you’ve spent hours getting yourself ready. Not being able to post any pictures on social media until you spend a lot of time finding that perfect one. Some people spend hours snapping pictures to get that perfect one, which is a sign of obsession.

Positive illusions are unrealistically favorable attitudes that people have towards themselves or to people that are close to them. Positive illusions are a form of self-deception or self-enhancement that feel good, maintain self-esteem or stave off discomfort, at least in the short term. There are three broad kinds: inflated assessment of one's own abilities, unrealistic optimism about the future, and an illusion of control.

Self-Deception is the action or practice of allowing oneself to believe that a false or invalidated feeling, idea, or situation is true. A process of denying or rationalizing away the relevance, significance, or importance of opposing evidence and logical argument. Self-deception involves convincing oneself of a truth (or lack of truth) so that one does not reveal any self-knowledge of the deception. Pretending to Know - Fallacy - Bias.

Phenotype is the composite of an organism's observable characteristics or traits, such as its morphology, development, biochemical or physiological properties, phenology, behavior, and products of behavior (such as a bird's nest). A phenotype results from the expression of an organism's genes as well as the influence of environmental factors and the interactions between the two. When two or more clearly different phenotypes exist in the same population of a species, the species is called polymorph.

'Ugly': A Memoir Of Childhood, Deformity And Learning To Love A Distinctive Face

Whether you feel that you look beautiful or ugly does not matter, because they are both dangerous perceptions. Being conceited has its dangers, and being self-degrading also has its dangers. We should all decide to make Beauty or Ugly only in reference to nature. We should stop using Beauty or ugly to describe a human, even if that human is yourself. It doesn't need to be a law, just a common courtesy and a collective acknowledgment that beauty or ugly are illogical terms to describe humans. We should not use words that separate humans or encourages prejudice that's based on appearance. We shall use from now on "You look better, you look good, you look the same, you don't look as good as you use to," because of a particular condition, and not related to old age or any other natural accruing human phenomenon. Try using these phrases.. Does that look better? Does that look the same? Does that look different? When we stop using words against ourselves, everyone will communicate more effectively, and not just to each other, but also to ourselves. Language is truly one of our greatest gifts, and one of our most powerful tools. But language comes with a huge responsibility. Everyone has to learn to fully understand the amazing abilities that language gives us, but we also have to learn about the dangers of language, especially when a person is not educated enough and lacks the skills and the vocabulary.

Freedom of Expression is everyone's god given right, and also a constitutional right. But sadly not everyone respects peoples right to self expression. This is an education problem. When someone is educated enough and knowledgeable enough they know that self expression should not affect them or cause them to act ignorant and disrespectful to someone just because of their visual appearance. This is why Racism is so Wrong and Ignorant. If you blame others for making you crazy, then you are crazy. Crazy with ignorance. This is another reason why everyone needs to educate themselves, because we have too many crazy people running around blaming other people for making them crazy. You have to learn the facts and stop pretending that you know enough about yourself and the world, because you definitely have not learned enough if lose your mind over things that are not relevant or important. And if you believe something is relevant and important, then you better be able to explain it, because if your reason is flawed, then you have no reason or excuse.

Subjective behaviors are not based on facts, so these reactions that people have are based more on fantasy then they are reality. I could understand if someone looked like they had an illness or a contagious disease, then you would be cautious, but you would not be disrespectful and ignorant towards that person, so even that is not a reason or an excuse to act ignorant or threating. If something is perceived to be gross, that does not mean you have the reason to act gross.

Use language to teach the importance of language - Embodied Cognition

There are many things in my life that I am not totally in control of. Even though I am getting better at controlling things in my life, I am still not in control of everything. I prioritize, but I have to learn how not to ignore things that still may be important. So I have to learn how to spend some more time on the lower priorities in my life, because they still may have significance. How many things do I need to be in control of in my life in order to feel that I am in control of my life? Without turning into a Control Freak or becoming a Perfectionist.

No need to feel Embarrassment or Shame, those Anxieties are to close to being Paranoid. Your Awareness should only relate to the facts, there is no such thing as perfect, and a beautiful mind is more powerful and more important then a beautiful body.

And you don't want to be over confident for that will just cause more problems and more dysfunction. And don't seek the approval of ignorant people who judge others superficially. And don't pay attention to others prejudice and the shallow remarks of ignorant people. And don't let others distract you from how important you are or let others cause you to forget how incredible you are, you are not measured by other peoples ignorance. You are better then that. So show them what a great person is all about, by either ignoring them, or by having a intelligent reply to their ignorance, like, "Your insecurity and your disrespect towards others saddens me, I pray that you overcome your ignorance so that you can see your potential instead of wasting it on superficial nonsense."

Body Shaming - Fat Shaming - Bullying - Assaults on Women

Your appearance and your image is irrelevant. If you feel that it is, then your conceitedness will rob you, and others, of what's really important, like family, friends, people and life. Worrying about how you look will waste time, energy and resources and disrespect the gift of life on the grandest scale. Your self reflection and self worth will be so distorted that you will cease to be human, and eventually become a self indulge reflection of an addict. Someone who's' more focused on how they look then what kind of person they are. So self-conscious that you will become unconscious of the world around you. You need to see the world free from judgment and experience the world honestly and openly, without the constant self reflecting paranoia that strips you of any humanity or decency that you have left in your self loathing soul. This goes beyond a false pride or an exaggerated sense of self-importance. People who are worried how others see them, are blind to who they really are, and they can never see people for who they really are. You will live in a self induced prison and at the same time be an insult to yourself. Not only will your relationships be shallow and meaningless, your relationship to the world will also be shallow and meaningless. When you let this go, you will experience life as if you were just born, a great awakening. You will become incredibly grateful that you have finally become relaxed enough to enjoy life and see life through eyes of empathy, sympathy and appreciation.

Appreciation is an expression of Gratitude and the Understanding of the nature of something or the Meaning or the quality or the magnitude of something. A careful and delicate observation of esthetic values.

Sympathy is sharing the feelings of others, especially feelings of sorrow or anguish. A relation of affinity or harmony between people; whatever affects one correspondingly affects the other.

Empathy is understanding and entering into another's feelings. Compassion.

When a women asks me "How do I look?" Of course I say great. But what I really want to say is "In reference to what? Compared to what? And what is the actual question?" Because I just don't want to be respectable, I also want to be accurate so that we can both learn something about each others self-image. So you're not just looking for encouragement, but something factual too. Does being pretty mean that you're more susceptible to being exploited and being abused? Does being pretty also mean that you're more likely to be undereducated, because education will seem unnecessary and irrelevant because your good looks seem to provide with everything that you want, but not everything that you need? Of course mostly everyone is vulnerable to these same problems, it's just seems that beauty carries its own added risk.

The Different Body Types of Athletes (photo)

"Basing your attraction to someone just using superficial body dimensions is ignorant and narrow minded, that's just being biased, which mostly says that you know very little about humans, including yourself. You're allowing your inability to perceive and to understand get the best of you. Don't put ignorant limitations on your ability to learn, or stop you from knowing someone. Your intelligence is waiting for you, and so is the world."

I'm not Ugly, you are Awareness can work against you, especially when you're aware of the wrong things at the wrong time for the wrong reasons, which makes your awareness more of a hindrance then a benefit. If it wasn't for other people, how you see yourself wouldn't matter. Because it's not so much what you perceive yourself to be, it's more about what you think how other people perceive you to be. You shouldn't worry about what other people think, but there are times when you have to anticipate other peoples reactions to certain things, because those reactions could complicate things or make a particular situation uncomfortable or even risky. So you're not worrying about what other people think, you're mostly just being aware of the fact that other people do think, and most of the time people are not thinking about you, but you should be prepared if they do think about you for what ever reason.

Aesthetics is a branch of philosophy that explores the nature of art, beauty, and taste, with the creation and appreciation of beauty.

Physical Attractiveness

The Thin Ideal is the concept of the ideally slim female body. The common perception of this ideal is a woman who possesses a slender, feminine physique with a small waist and little body fat. The size that the thin ideal woman should be is decreasing while the rate of female obesity is simultaneously increasing, making this iconic body difficult for women to maintain. This creates a gap between the actual appearance of an average woman’s body and its expected appearance which, depending on the extent to which a woman internalizes the necessity of living up to this ideal for her well-being and peace of mind, may have serious psychological effects.

Mirrors - How Do You See Yourself

What matters is how you see yourself Mirror is an object that reflects light in such a way that, for incident light in some range of wavelengths, the reflected light preserves many or most of the detailed physical characteristics of the original light, called specular reflection. This is different from other light-reflecting objects that do not preserve much of the original wave signal other than color and diffuse reflected light, such as flat-white paint. The most familiar type of mirror is the plane mirror, which has a flat surface. Curved Mirrors are also used, to produce magnified or diminished images or focus light or simply distort the reflected image. Mirrors are commonly used for personal grooming or admiring oneself (where they are also called looking-glasses), for viewing the area behind and on the sides on motor vehicles while driving, for decoration, and architecture. Mirrors are also used in scientific apparatus such as telescopes and lasers, cameras, and industrial machinery. Most mirrors are designed for visible light; however, mirrors designed for other wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation are also used. A mirror reverses the image view from front to back, not left and right or up and down.

Plane Mirror is a mirror with a flat planar reflective surface. For light rays striking a plane mirror, the angle of reflection equals the angle of incidence. The angle of incidence is the angle between the incident ray and the surface normal (an imaginary line perpendicular to the surface). Therefore, the angle of reflection is the angle between the reflected ray and the normal and a collimated beam of light does not spread out after reflection from a plane mirror, except for diffraction effects. A plane mirror makes an image of objects in front of it; these images appear to be behind the plane in which the mirror lies. A straight line drawn from part of an object to the corresponding part of its image makes a right angle with, and is bisected by, the surface of the plane mirror. The image formed by a plane mirror is always virtual (meaning that the light rays do not actually come from the image), upright, and of the same shape and size as the object it is reflecting. A virtual image is a copy of an object formed at the location from which the light rays appear to come. However, the image is a laterally-inverted "mirror image" of the object. If a person is reflected in a plane mirror, the image of his right hand appears to be the left hand of the image. Plane mirrors are the only type of mirror for which a real object always produces an image that is virtual, erect and of the same size as the object. Virtual objects produce real images, however. The focal length of a plane mirror is infinity; its optical power is zero.

You Look Fine Mirror Image is a reflected duplication of an object that appears almost identical, but is reversed in the direction perpendicular to the mirror surface in a plane mirror. As an optical effect it results from reflection off of substances such as a mirror or water. It is also a concept in geometry and can be used as a conceptualization process for 3-D structures.

Mirroring Behavior (imatating others)

Reflection in physics is the change in direction of a wavefront at an interface between two different media so that the wavefront returns into the medium from which it originated. Common examples include the reflection of light, sound and water waves. The law of reflection says that for specular reflection the angle at which the wave is incident on the surface equals the angle at which it is reflected. Mirrors exhibit specular reflection. In acoustics, reflection causes echoes and is used in sonar. In geology, it is important in the study of seismic waves. Reflection is observed with surface waves in bodies of water. Reflection is observed with many types of electromagnetic wave, besides visible light. Reflection of VHF and higher frequencies is important for radio transmission and for radar. Even hard X-rays and gamma rays can be reflected at shallow angles with special "grazing" mirrors.

Reflection in computer graphics in computer graphics is used to emulate reflective objects like mirrors and shiny surfaces. Reflection Symmetry.

Self-Reflection is to seriously think about one's character, actions, and motives. The capacity of a person to exercise introspection and to attempt to learn more about their fundamental nature and essence.

Introspection is the examination of one's own conscious thoughts and feelings. In psychology, the process of introspection relies exclusively on observation of one's mental state, while in a spiritual context it may refer to the examination of one's soul. Introspection is closely related to human self-reflection and self-discovery and is contrasted with external observation. Introspection generally provides a privileged access to one's own mental states, not mediated by other sources of knowledge, so that individual experience of the mind is unique. Introspection can determine any number of mental states including: sensory, bodily, cognitive, emotional and so forth. Introspection has been a subject of philosophical discussion for thousands of years. The philosopher Plato asked, "…why should we not calmly and patiently review our own thoughts, and thoroughly examine and see what these appearances in us really are?" While introspection is applicable to many facets of philosophical thought it is perhaps best known for its role in epistemology; in this context introspection is often compared with perception, reason, memory, and testimony as a source of knowledge. Mindful.

So how do you see yourself? Does your impression of yourself reflect what you see in the Mirror? Does your reflection match the same image that others see? Does it matter? Yes and No. What matters the most is how you see yourself within. Just don't look at your face in the mirror, look at the kind of person you are. You should see the reflection of the person you want to be. Recognize yourself and acknowledge yourself. This is your responsibility and no one else's. If you don't like what you see in the mirror, you should only look at your face for what it is, a Face. The most important thing is, does your face look healthy? Does your face work? Of course you don't want to look like a slob, we're not saying dirty is OK, it's just not that important sometimes when compared to your health, especially your mental health and your physical health. Do what you can, and then just go with it. If you are not happy with your appearance, just blur your eyes. I always look a little better when I blur my eyes.

What Do Strangers Think Of You? Why We Can't See Ourselves The Way Others Do (youtube)

Life is a Mirror that reflects your feelings, your actions and your thoughts back to you. Reflecting back to the thinker what he or she thinks into it. We get the best results when we smile at the mirror of life.

You don't look in the mirror to see yourself, you look in the mirror to see what you look like on the surface. To see yourself you need to use your mind and not your eyes. You are not in the mirror and the reflection you see is not who you are, it's only what you look like, which is mostly subjective and personal perception. To truly see yourself you have to look inward and underneath without using your eyes.

"When you look at yourself in someone else's mirror you will never see yourself for who you really are."

Non-Reversing Mirror is a mirror that presents its subject as it would be seen from the mirror. A non-reversing mirror can be made by connecting two regular mirrors at their edges at a 90 degree angle. If the join is positioned so that it is vertical, an observer looking into the angle will see a non-reversed image. This can be seen in public toilets when there are mirrors on two walls which are at right angles. Looking towards the corner, such an image is visible. The problem with this type of non-reversing mirror is that there is a big line down the middle interrupting the image. However, if first surface mirrors are used, and care is taken to set the angle to exactly 90 degrees, the join can be made invisible.

Falling in Love with your own Reflection. Narcissus was a hunter from Thespiae in Boeotia who was known for his beauty. He was the son of the river god Cephissus and nymph Liriope. He was proud, in that he disdained those who loved him. Nemesis noticed this behavior and attracted Narcissus to a pool, where he saw his own reflection in the water and fell in love with it, not realizing it was merely an image. Unable to leave the beauty of his reflection, Narcissus lost his will to live. He stared at his reflection until he died. Narcissus is the origin of the term narcissism, a fixation with oneself and one's physical appearance and/or public perception.

Songs about Self Image

Christina Aguilera - Beautiful (youtube) - I like this song by Christina but I don't like the video, the video would have been better if she was just looking in the mirror and then walking in public then ending with the mirror scene, because most of words that we use to judge ourselves are our own. So when Christina says at the end of the song "Don't you bring me down today" she is actually talking to herself. "Don't let words bring you down, especially your own words."

"Sometimes you can be your own worst enemy"

Linkin Park called 'Crawling' (youtube) - Another good song about self image.

Sometimes you can be your own worst enemy. So don't beat yourself up. Be good to yourself, and don't ever abandon yourself. And don't blame yourself or blame others. Just keep learning.

If you look at this pink song as being about how you treat yourself sometimes, it really makes sense.
Please Don't Leave Me - Pink (youtube)
I don't know if I can yell any louder, how many times I've kicked you outta here, or said something insulting. I can be so mean when I wanna be, I am capable of really anything, I can cut you into pieces, When my heart is, broken,
Please don't leave me, Please don't leave me.
I'm always saying how I don't need you, But it's always gonna come right back to this,
Please, don't leave me.
How did I become so obnoxious? What is it with you that makes me act like this?
I've never been this nasty, Can't you tell that this is all just a contest?
The one that wins will be the one that hits the hardest,
But baby I don't mean it, I mean it, I promise,
Please don't leave me, Please don't leave me.
I'm always saying how I don't need you, But it's always gonna come right back to this,
Please, don't leave me.
I forgot to say out loud how beautiful you really are to me, I can't be without, you're my perfect little punching bag,
And I need you, I'm sorry.
Please, please don't leave me, Baby, please don't leave me, No, don't leave me, Please don't leave me.
I'm always saying how I don't need you, But it's always gonna come right back,
It's gonna come right back to this.
Please, don't leave me. I always say how I don't need you,
But it's always gonna come right back to this,
Please don't leave me, Baby, please don't leave me.

Makeup - Cosmetics

Heavy Makeup or no makeup Makeup are substances or products used to enhance or alter the appearance or fragrance of the body. Many cosmetics are designed for use of applying to the face and hair. They are generally mixtures of chemical compounds; some being derived from natural sources (such as coconut oil), and some being synthetics. Common cosmetics include lipstick, mascara, eye shadow, foundation, rouge, skin cleansers and skin lotions, shampoo, hairstyling products (gel, hair spray, etc.), perfume and cologne. Tattoos.

Cosmetology is the study and application of beauty treatment. Branches of specialty include hairstyling, skin care, cosmetics, manicures/pedicures, non permanent hair removal such as waxing and sugaring and permanent hair removal processes such as electrology and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL).

Common cosmetics include lipstick, mascara, eye shadow, foundation, rouge, skin cleansers and skin lotions, shampoo, hairstyling products (gel, hair spray, etc.), perfume and cologne. Cosmetics applied to the face to enhance its appearance are often called make-up or makeup.

Makeup is supposed to accentuate your beauty, not make you beautiful, because you are all ready beautiful by default.

Accentuate is to make something more noticeable or more prominent.

You can start making a cosmetic and start selling it the next day without any kind of permission from the FDA. Cosmetics industry is largely self-regulated, with no requirements for approval before going on the market. And once on the market, there are few systems in place to monitor the safety of personal care products. If you suspect that a product has resulted in an "adverse event," such as a rash, nausea, stress, or even death, you can report it to the manufacturer or tell the Food and Drug Administration. And while that might get you an apology and some coupons, there is no guarantee that your case will be investigated, or that a manufacturer will report it to the FDA.

Testing Cosmetics on Animals is a type of animal testing used to test the safety and hypoallergenic properties of products for use by humans. Due to the harm done to the animal subjects, this testing is opposed by animal rights activists and others. Cosmetic animal testing is banned in the European Union, India, Israel, and Norway.

Animal Testing is the use of non-human animals in experiments that seek to control the variables that affect the behavior or biological system under study. This approach can be contrasted with field studies in which animals are observed in their natural environments. Experimental research with animals is usually conducted in universities, medical schools, pharmaceutical companies, defense establishments and commercial facilities that provide animal-testing services to industry. The focus of animal testing varies on a continuum from pure research, focusing on developing fundamental knowledge of an organism, to applied research, which may focus on answering some question of great practical importance, such as finding a cure for a disease. Examples of applied research include testing disease treatments, breeding, defense research and toxicology, including cosmetics testing. In education, animal testing is sometimes a component of biology or psychology courses. The practice is regulated to varying degrees in different countries.

Hair

Hairdresser is a person whose occupation is to cut or style hair in order to change or maintain a person's image. This is achieved using a combination of hair coloring, haircutting, and hair texturing techniques. Most hairdressers are professionally licensed as either a hairdresser, a barber or a cosmetologist. Cleaning Hair.

Hairstyle refers to the styling of hair, usually on the human scalp. Sometimes, this could also mean an editing of facial or body hair. The fashioning of hair can be considered an aspect of personal grooming, fashion, and cosmetics, although practical, cultural, and popular considerations also influence some hairstyles. The oldest known depiction of hair braiding dates back about 30,000 years. In ancient civilizations, women's hair was often elaborately and carefully dressed in special ways.

Barber is a person whose occupation is mainly to cut, dress, groom, style and shave men’s and boys' hair. A barber's place of work is known as a "barber shop" or a "barber's". Barber shops are also places of social interaction and public discourse. In some instances, barbershops are also public forums. They are the locations of open debates, voicing public concerns, and engaging citizens in discussions about contemporary issues. They were also influential in helping shape male identity.

Clothes

Clothing is fiber and textile material worn on the body. The wearing of clothing is mostly restricted to human beings and is a feature of nearly all human societies. The amount and type of clothing worn depends on body type, social, and geographic considerations. Some clothing can be gender-specific.

Folk Costume or national costume or traditional garment, expresses an identity through costume, which is usually associated with a geographic area or a period of time in history. It can also indicate social, marital or religious status. If the costume is used to represent the culture or identity of a specific ethnic group, it is usually known as ethnic costume (also ethnic dress, ethnic wear, ethnic clothing, traditional ethnic wear or traditional ethnic garment). Such costumes often come in two forms: one for everyday occasions, the other for traditional festivals and formal wear.

Costume is the distinctive style of dress of an individual or group that reflects their class, gender, profession, ethnicity, nationality, activity or epoch. The term also was traditionally used to describe typical appropriate clothing for certain activities, such as riding costume, swimming costume, dance costume, and evening costume. Appropriate and acceptable costume is subject to changes in fashion and local Cultural norms.

Cosplay or costume play is a performance art in which participants called cosplayers wear costumes and fashion accessories to represent a specific character. Cosplayers often interact to create a subculture, and a broader use of the term "cosplay" applies to any costumed role-playing in venues apart from the stage. Any entity that lends itself to dramatic interpretation may be taken up as a subject and it is not unusual to see genders switched. Favorite sources include anime, cartoons, comic books, manga, television series, and video games.

Dress-up is a children's game where a person wears costumes or articles of clothing for role-playing. Beginning from the mid-1990s, dress-up has become defined as a genre of video games primarily focused on customizing the user avatar's appearance.

Halloween Costume are costumes worn on or around Halloween, a festival which falls on October 31. An early reference to wearing costumes at Halloween comes from Scotland in 1585, but they may pre-date this. There are many references to the custom during the 18th and 19th centuries in the Celtic countries of Scotland, Ireland, Mann and Wales. It has been suggested that the custom comes from the Celtic festivals of Samhain and Calan Gaeaf, or from the practise of "souling" during the Christian observance of Allhallowtide. Wearing costumes and mumming has long been associated with festivals at other times of the year, such as on Christmas. Halloween costumes are traditionally based on frightening supernatural or folkloric beings. However, by the 1930s costumes based on characters in mass media such as film, literature, and radio were popular. Halloween costumes have tended to be worn mainly by young people, but since the mid-20th century they have been increasingly worn by adults also.

Masquerade is to pretend to be someone or something that you are not. Making a false outward show. Acting.

Camouflage is the use of any combination of materials, coloration, or illumination for concealment, either by making animals or objects hard to see by blending in with the surrounding environment, or by disguising themselves as something else by mimicking or pretending to be something else.

Crypsis is the ability of an animal to avoid observation or detection by other animals. It may be a predation strategy or an antipredator adaptation. Methods include camouflage, nocturnality, subterranean lifestyle and mimicry. Crypsis can involve visual, olfactory (with pheromones), or auditory concealment. When it is visual, the term cryptic coloration, effectively a synonym for animal camouflage is sometimes used, but many different methods of camouflage are employed by animals.

Disguise can be anything which conceals or changes a person's physical appearance, including a wig, glasses, makeup, costume or other items. Camouflage is a type of disguise for people, animals and objects. Hats, glasses, changes in hair style or wigs, plastic surgery, and make-up are also used.

T-shirt is a style of unisex fabric shirt named after the T shape of its body and sleeves. It normally has short sleeves and a round neckline, known as a crew neck, which lacks a collar. T-shirts are generally made of a light, inexpensive fabric and are easy to clean. Unisex Clothing is clothing designed to be suitable for both sexes in order to make men and women look similar.

Sportswear or Active wear is clothing, including footwear, worn for sport or physical exercise. Sport-specific clothing is worn for most sports and physical exercise, for practical, comfort or safety reasons.

Layered Clothing is a term describing a way of dressing using many garments that are worn on top of each other. Some of the layers have different, largely non-overlapping, functions. Using more or fewer layers, or replacing one layer but not others, allows for flexible clothing to match the needs of each situation. Two thin layers can be warmer yet lighter than one thick layer, because the air trapped between layers serves as thermal insulation. Layered clothing is particularly relevant in cold climates, where clothing must at the same time transfer moisture, provide warmth, and protect from wind and rain. In a hot and dry climate, clothes have very different functional requirements: they must block the radiation from the Sun, and allow for sufficient air circulation. Therefore, layered clothing in the sense used in this article is largely irrelevant to hot and dry climates. The wicking layer moves the sweat from your body, th purpose of this is it will not freeze the sweat because it is getting absorbed by the other layers. Outdoor and sports wear manufacturers favor layered clothing because, among other reasons, it allows them to offer so-called "technical" or "functional" clothes which are optimized for the particular demands of a specific layer. Such clothes are often made of advanced synthetic materials, and can be expensive.

Personal Stylist is a person who typically advises individuals on, for example, new fashion trends, clothing styles, colours and make-up.

Wardrobe Stylist is a consultant who selects the clothing for published editorial features, print or television advertising campaigns, music videos, concert performances, and any public appearances made by celebrities, models or other public figures. Stylists are often part of a larger creative team assembled by the client, collaborating with the fashion designer, photographer/director, hair stylist and makeup artist to put together a particular look or theme for the specific project. A wardrobe stylist can also be referred to as a fashion stylist, fashion editor, or celebrity stylist. According to one view, "Stylists are the people who push each celebrity to make the best dressed list," and assist with editorial photo shoots.

Decorations

Adornment is the action of decorating yourself with something colorful and interesting.

Decorating is to make something or someone look more attractive on the surface.

Embellishment is a decorative detail or feature added to something to make it more attractive. A detail, especially one that is not true, added to a statement or story to make it more interesting or entertaining. Embellish is to make something appear to be better or greater in power, wealth, quality, etc. than it really is. Serve to decorate and look nice. Make more beautiful. Make more attractive by adding ornament, colour, etc. Fabricate - Ego.

Decorative Arts is the design and manufacture of objects that are both beautiful and functional.

Ornament is a decoration used to embellish parts of a building or object. Objective - Subjective.

Accessory is clothing that is worn or carried, but not part of your main clothing. A supplementary component that improves capability. Furnishing added support.

Fashion Accessory is an item used to contribute, in a secondary manner, to the wearer's outfit, often used to complete an outfit and chosen to specifically complement the wearer's look. It has the capacity to further express an individuals identity and personality as there are accessories that come in different, shapes, sizes, hues etc.. Traditionally carried accessories include purses and handbags, glasses, hand fans, parasols and umbrellas, wallets, canes, and ceremonial swords. Accessories that are worn may include jackets, boots and shoes, cravats, ties, hats, bonnets, belts and suspenders, gloves, muffs, necklaces, bracelets, watches, sashes, shawls, scarves, lanyards, socks, pins, piercings, rings, and stockings.

Motif is a design or figure that consists of recurring shapes or colors, as in architecture or decoration. A theme that is repeated or elaborated in a piece of music. A unifying idea that is a recurrent element in literary or artistic work.

Jewellery consists of small decorative items worn for personal adornment, such as brooches, rings, necklaces, earrings, pendants, bracelets, and cufflinks. Jewelry may be attached to the body or the clothes. From a western perspective, the term is restricted to durable ornaments, excluding flowers for example. For many centuries metal, often combined with gemstones, has been the normal material for jewellery, but other materials such as shells and other plant materials may be used. It is one of the oldest type of archaeological artefact – with 100,000-year-old beads made from Nassarius shells thought to be the oldest known jewellery. The basic forms of jewellery vary between cultures but are often extremely long-lived; in European cultures the most common forms of jewellery listed above have persisted since ancient times, while other forms such as adornments for the nose or ankle, important in other cultures, are much less common. Jewellery may be made from a wide range of materials. Gemstones and similar materials such as amber and coral, precious metals, beads, and shells have been widely used, and enamel has often been important. In most cultures jewellery can be understood as a status symbol, for its material properties, its patterns, or for meaningful symbols. Jewellery has been made to adorn nearly every body part, from hairpins to toe rings, and even genital jewellery. The patterns of wearing jewellery between the sexes, and by children and older people can vary greatly between cultures, but adult women have been the most consistent wearers of jewellery; in modern European culture the amount worn by adult males is relatively low compared with other cultures and other periods in European culture. The word jewellery itself is derived from the word jewel, which was anglicised from the Old French "jouel", and beyond that, to the Latin word "jocale", meaning plaything. In British English, Indian English, New Zealand English, Hiberno-English, Australian English, and South African English it is spelled jewellery, while the spelling is jewelry in American English. Both are used in Canadian English, though jewelry prevails by a two to one margin. In French and a few other European languages the equivalent term, joaillerie, may also cover decorated metalwork in precious metal such as objets d'art and church items, not just objects worn on the person.

Body Piercing is the practice of puncturing or cutting a part of the human body, creating an opening in which jewelry may be worn or where an implant could be inserted. The word piercing can refer to the act or practice of body piercing, or to an opening in the body created by this act or practice. It can also, by metonymy, refer to the resulting decoration, or to the decorative jewelry used. Contrary to popular belief, that piercing is related to visual jewelry only, piercing implants alter body and/or skin profile and appearance (e.g. golden threads installed subdermal, platinum, titanium or medical grade steel subdermal implants). Although the history of body piercing is obscured by popular misinformation and by a lack of scholarly reference, ample evidence exists to document that it has been practiced in various forms by both sexes since ancient times throughout the world.

In addition, tattoos can be used for identification such as ear tattoos on livestock as a form of branding. Tattoos that only last 1-2 weeks and fade as your skin naturally regenerates. Plastic Surgery is a surgical specialty involving the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. It can be divided into two categories. The first is reconstructive surgery which includes craniofacial surgery, hand surgery, microsurgery, and the treatment of burns. The other is cosmetic or aesthetic surgery. While reconstructive surgery aims to reconstruct a part of the body or improve its functioning, cosmetic surgery aims at improving the appearance of it. Both of these techniques are used throughout the world.

They often operate off an ideology, hoping to attract a relatively high number of people and ultimately become a recognized social phenomenon. Awareness does not necessarily mean that the consumer must be able to recall a specific brand name, but he or she must be able to recall sufficient distinguishing features for purchasing to proceed. For instance, if a consumer asks her friend to buy her some gum in a "blue pack", the friend would be expected to know which gum to buy, even though neither friend can recall the precise brand name at the time.a brand. Visual Brand Language is the unique "alphabet" of design elements – such as shape, color, materials, finish, typography and composition – which directly and subliminally communicate a company's values and personality through compelling imagery and design style. This "alphabet", properly designed, results in an emotional connection between the brand and the consumer. Visual brand language is a key ingredient necessary to make an authentic and convincing brand strategy that can be applied uniquely and creatively in all forms of brand communications to both employees and customers. Successful Visual Brand Language creates a memorable experience for the consumer, encouraging repeat business and boosting the company's economic health. It is a long-term creative solution that can be leveraged by an executive team to showcase their brand's unique personality.

Co-Branding is a marketing strategy that involves strategic alliance of multiple brand names jointly used on single product or service. Co-branding, also called brand partnership, is when two companies form an alliance to work together, creating marketing synergy.

Rebranding is a marketing strategy in which a new name, term, symbol, design, or combination thereof is created for an established brand with the intention of developing a new, differentiated identity in the minds of consumers, investors, competitors, and other stakeholders. Often, this involves radical changes to a brand's logo, name, legal names, image, marketing strategy, and advertising themes. Such changes typically aim to reposition the brand/company, occasionally to distance itself from negative connotations of the previous branding, or to move the brand upmarket; they may also communicate a new message a new board of directors wishes to communicate. Rebranding can be applied to new products, mature products, or even products still in development. The process can occur intentionally through a deliberate change in strategy or occur unintentionally from unplanned, emergent situations, such as a "Chapter 11 corporate restructuring," "union busting," or "bankruptcy." Rebranding can also refer to a change in a company/ corporate brand that may own several sub-brands for products or companies.

Touchpoint can be defined as a point of contact between a buyer and a seller and any way a consumer can interact with a business, whether it be person-to-person, through a website, an app or any form of communication (“Touchpoint Glossary”, n.d.). When consumers come in contact with these touchpoints it gives them the opportunity to compare their prior perceptions of the business and form an opinion (Stein, & Ramaseshan, 2016). Touchpoints in marketing communications are the varying ways that a brand interacts and displays information to prospective customers and current customers. Touchpoints allow customers to have experiences every time they “touch’ any part of the product, service, brand or organization, across multiple channels and various points in time (Pantano and Viassone, 2015 and Zomerdijk and Voss, 2010). Customers opinions and perceptions are largely influenced by the contact that is made with these touchpoints, which can be positive or negative depending wholly on the individual person (Meyer, & Schwager, 2007). Touch-Points have the ability to influence a consumers buying or intent to purchase, all throughout the five stages of the buyer purchasing decision-making process: Problem recognition, information search, the evaluation of alternatives, purchase decision, and post-purchase behaviour (Kotler, Burton, Deans, Brown, Armstrong, 2013). Touchpoints can happen in both a Business-to-Business setting and a Business-to-Consumer setting (Lemke, Clark, & Wilson, 2010). A touchpoint is a message or way a brand reaches out to their target market providing engagement as it allows the brand to be seen by the prospective customer in a favorable way. The goal effective touch points is that it will create opportunity for the purchaser to choose their brand over another competitor. Touchpoints are an element in the IMC (integrated marketing communications), which portray the willingness on behalf of the brand communicators to use specific communication motives to reach the appropriate target audience. This is used to engage customers in the pre- and post-purchase experience when they purchase a good or service. Touch points allow prospective customers to become knowledgeable on the brand and the benefits offered and allow them to make a decision to whether they will buy the product or service. An example of a brand using effective touchpoints in their marketing communications is Toyota selling the Yaris car model to the youth segment. The way in which Toyota did this was firstly advertising the Yaris in television programs such as Prison Break, whose viewers are typically in the age bracket they were targeting. Toyota hosted an Internet contest where consumers could create their own three-minute television commercials. This method engaged the youth segment as it was interactive and let the prospect consumers experience the brand. Toyota also knew that the youth age group were social and would likely attend social functions; this meant that Yaris cars were featured in many sponsored events. They were also integrated into television comedy programs, which attracted their target segmentation during adverts. (Shimp, 2005, c2009).

Mind Share relates generally to the development of consumer awareness or popularity, and is one of the main objectives of advertising and promotion. When people think of examples of a product type or category, they usually think of a limited number of brand names. The aim of mind share is to establish a brand as being one of the best kinds of a given product or service, and to even have the brand name become a synonym for the product or service offered. For example, a prospective buyer of a college education will have several thousand colleges to choose from. However, the evoked set, or set of schools considered, will probably be limited to about ten. Of these ten, the colleges that the buyer is most familiar with will receive the greatest attention. Marketers and promoters of mind share try to maximize the popularity of their product, so that the brand co-exists with deeper, more empirical categories of objects. Kleenex, for example, can distinguish itself as a type of tissue. But, because it has gained popularity amongst consumers, it is frequently used as a term to identify any tissue, even if it is from a competing brand. Q-tips and band-aids would be other examples of this. Popularity can be established to a greater or lesser degree depending on product and market. For example, in the Southern U.S. it is common to hear people refer to any cola-flavored soft drink as a "coke", regardless of whether it is actually produced by Coca-Cola or not. A legal risk of such popularity is that the name may become so widely accepted that it becomes a generic term and loses trademark protection. Examples include "escalator", "panadol", "chapstick", "tupperware", and "bandaid". Companies will often attempt to prevent a product name from becoming generic to avoid losing trademark protection. Xerox Corporation attempted to prevent the genericization of its core trademark through an extensive public relations campaign advising consumers to "photocopy" instead of "xerox" documents. Other objectives of mind share include short or long term increases in sales, market share, product information, and reputation.

Loyalty Program is a marketing strategy designed to encourage customers to continue to shop at or use the services of a business associated with the program. Today, such programs cover most types of commerce, each having varying features and rewards schemes, including in banking, entertainment, hospitality, retailing and travel. Loyalty.

It later became a symbol of freedom and cultural awareness among some youths or a symbol of their rejection of the values of mainstream society. It is often claimed the style originated from the United States prison system where belts are sometimes prohibited and there can be a lack of appropriately sized clothing.

Does having good looks or nice clothes corrupt the mind the same way that power corrupts the mind?

Do the Clothes make the Man? You better hope not. If you need clothes to make you a man, then clothes are not going to help you be a man. If you're dressing to impress, then that's different, if others want to ignorantly judge by your looks and not your character, then that's their problem, just don't do judge yourself that way. You have to be a man of character no matter what you're wearing and no matter how you look. And don't pretend to be someone that you're not, unless you're an actor in a movie, because there's nothing worse than pretending to have good qualities. Just don't "be a man", be a "good man".

Why do people Act more freely when at a Masquerade? Could pretending that you're wearing a Mask give you the same effect?

Johnny Cash - Man in black
Well, you wonder why I always dress in black,
Why you never see bright colors on my back,
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone.
Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on.
I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down,
Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town,
I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime,
But is there because he's a victim of the times.
I wear the black for those who never read,
Or listened to the words that Jesus said,
About the road to happiness through love and charity,
Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me.
Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose,
In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes,
But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back,
Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black.
I wear it for the sick and lonely old,
For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold,
I wear the black in mournin' for the lives that could have been,
Each week we lose a hundred fine young men.
And, I wear it for the thousands who have died,
Believen' that the Lord was on their side,
I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died,
Believen' that we all were on their side.
Well, there's things that never will be right I know,
And things need changin' everywhere you go,
But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right,
You'll never see me wear a suit of white.
Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day,
And tell the world that everything's OK,
But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back,
'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black

When comparing yourself to others you have to know why you're comparing yourself to others and know exactly what you're comparing? Most of the times you're not comparing, you're just insecure. So called ' Imperfections ' are truly a blessing in Disguise because Beauty, or just Perceived Beauty, can destroy a persons life and cause more problems then originally Perceived.

"They say that Symmetry is a factor with good looks, but that's just math, a person is still more important then numbers."

"Don't let the way you look effect the way you see. To see yourself is one thing, looking at the world is another. If you're so focused on the way you look, you will miss most of everything else that you can see. Vision is a gift. If you truly want to see yourself than just close your eyes."

Somatotype and Constitutional Psychology is to categorize the human physique according to the relative contribution of three fundamental elements, somatotypes, named after the three germ layers of embryonic development: the endoderm, (develops into the digestive tract), the mesoderm, (becomes muscle, heart and blood vessels), and the ectoderm (forms the skin and nervous system). His initial visual methodology has been discounted as subjective, but later formulaic variations of the methodology, developed by his original research assistant Barbara Heath, and later Lindsay Carter and Rob Rempel are still in academic use, Ectomorphic, Mesomorphic and Endomorphic Body Types.

About-Face means a reversal of direction, attitude, or point of view. We equip women & girls with tools to understand & resist harmful media messages that affect their self-esteem & body image.

Superficial - Perfection

Most teens explore their sense of self by experimenting with different looks, different hair styles, different roles, new activities and different behaviors. But as we get older we usually just pick a style that is simple, practical and the easiest to manage. It is not so much about conforming, it's more about gaining knowledge and information about yourself and the world to the point where you just want to keep things simple so that you can easily navigate through life without being tied to a particular character. Of course our explorations continue, except now it's more about what we see in yourself and what we see in the world, and it's not so much anymore about what we see in the mirror, which was that Superficial image that we thought was so important, that has now taken a backseat to reality.
